X Factor: Matt Terry now odds-on to win this year’s show

Published:

If Matt Terry continues at this rate, he could potentially become the shortest-priced favourite in X Factor history come finals night December. Amazingly, the 23-year-old is already odds-on to win this year’s show, after just three weeks of live performances.

With a staggering 31.6 per cent of all remaining stakes on the outright winner being placed on the boy from Bromley, it’s easy to see why our traders have opened up a Betting Without Matt Terry market.

The remainder of the outright market has seen little in the way of change over the weekend, with 5 After Midnight still some way off Matt as 9/2 second-favourites.

Meanwhile, Emily Middlemas remains the 10/1 third-favourite to become the second Girl in as many years to win the competition, while Gifty Louise is just behind her at 12/1.

But it’s Honey G who once again received one of just three standing ovations on the night as she continues to win her haters over. Remember, her odds were as long as 100/1 back in August, with a handful of people backing her at that point.

But it looks as though this series could be wrapped up already with Matt continuing to run away with it.

Perhaps that means there’s some value in the 11/4 on the X Factor winner’s song to be at number one in the charts by Christmas, especially given the 23-year-old’s popularity.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Matt’s odds are in free fall, and with a couple of months still to go it’s looking increasingly hard to see anyone else stealing the 2016 crown.”
