When will Gareth Bale smash Ian Rush’s Wales goalscoring record?

Gareth Bale needs just five more goals to become Wales’ all-time leading goalscorer, and our followers have been debating exactly when he’ll surpass Ian Rush’s amount of 28.

In second-place, with 31 per cent of the votes, was the ‘Before Christmas’ option, with 10 per cent of you thinking Bale will have to wait until 2018 in Russia to smash the record on the biggest stage in world football.

That left just seven per cent of voters to back Bale to become Wales’ all-time leading goalscorer by close of play on Sunday evening – giving the Real Madrid star roughly 180 minutes to do so.

While he may struggle to find the net against Austria tonight, he’ll surely be motivated by the fact that Wales are up against a weak Georgia side on Sunday evening.
