Stoke, Spurs and Liverpool men star during international break

Published:

It has been a pleasing international break for a number of Premier League players already with still more outings to come before domestic duties return.

Heung-min Son continued his hot-streak in front of goal for South Korea, Joe Allen got on the scoresheet for Wales and both Phillippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino netted for Brazil in a 5-0 win over Bolivia.

However, those three haven’t even had the best international breaks in their club, as the following list explains:

Marko Arnautovic

With Stoke struggling at the wrong end of the top-flight table, they’ll need some improved performances for their collection of hipster stars to emerge from the relegation fight they’re currently in.

Luckily for them, Arnautovic seemed to brush off the cobwebs with a brace against Wales in the World Cup qualifiers (the same game that teammate Allen opened the scoring in).

The Potters will hope that both men bring their shooting boots back to Stoke for their clash with Sunderland after the international break.

Vincent Janssen

It’s fair to say that while Janssen’s Tottenham career has been promising so far, the Dutchman needs a goal from open play to really get himself going (his only strike to date came from the penalty spot).

Well perhaps the stonker he netted for Holland against Belarus will be the catalyst for a scoring spree, after he smashed home from 20-yards having first picked the ball up towards the halfway line.

Jordan Henderson

Nearly every Liverpool player that isn’t a goalkeeper or defender is loving life under Jurgen Klopp at the moment and Henderson was a shining example of the confidence seeping out of Anfield for England against Malta.

The former Sunderland man had a hand in both goals and was awarded the man of the match award for his all action display at Wembley.
