Spurs monitor Lukaku as north Londoners ponder reshuffle

Jordan Lukaku has spent most of his footballing life in the shadows of his older brother Romelu, but while the Everton striker continues to impress in the Premier League, his sibling could be handed a top-flight chance of his own.

Tottenham are reportedly looking at the possibility of signing the younger Lukaku, who plays at left-back for Serie A club Lazio.

That’s because current Spurs defender Ben Davies, who is used as Danny Rose’s understudy by Mauricio Pochettino, could be on the way out of White Hart Lane.

According to the Sun on Sunday, the 9/1 Premier League title hopefuls could jettison the Welsh international in order to make room for Lukaku’s arrival.

Davies would be able hold down a starting role with most top-flight teams, but has found minutes limited by Rose’s startling ascent to international honours under the Argentine tactician.

As a result, the Lilywhites could cash in on Davies now, with the 20-year-old Lazio player arriving in his place.

Lukaku moved to the Rome club from Oostende in his homeland this summer and has so far made four appearances for the Biancocelesti in the league.

Signing the Belgian international, who has five caps for his country, so soon after he landed in Italy may be a little ambitious for Tottenham.

It’s likely that any potential move for the Antwerp native won’t materialise until the summer at the very earliest.

A 1-1 draw at West Brom last time out kept Tottenham in second place in the Premier League, one point behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

We make the north Londoners 4/6 to finish in the top four this season.
