Poll Reaction: Man City on course for a third Premier League crown

Published:

The people have spoken, and they reckon Pep Guardiola will deliver the Premier League title in his first season at Manchester City.

The Citizens came out on top of today’s @Ladbrokes Twitter poll, which asked fans who would lift the league crown this year, with Leicester City all but out of the running to repeat their 5000/1 feat.

Guardiola’s men took a whopping 40 per cent of the vote, despite their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday. And despite that result, it’s easy to see why many are backing the Sky Blues, who began the campaign with six league wins on the bounce.

The Etihad outfit have been a nightmare for opponents, netting 18 goals already this season, making them the equal-highest scorers alongside their closest challengers in this poll. But that’s where the similarities end.

While City are looking to end a short wait for the Premier League crown, Liverpool have gone 26 years without a top-flight title. Despite that, 26 per cent of you voted to say that Jurgen Klopp’s exciting outfit can deliver the big prize to Anfield this summer.

Tottenham came in third with support from 20 per cent of you, making them the most fancied London outfit, ahead of local rivals Arsenal who polled a mere 14 per cent.

So can City prove the 40 per cent of you right and silence their doubters?

Beat Everton in their next home game at 4/9, and Guardiola’s 10/11 favourites will be looking like top dogs once again.

Lose, and the 4/1 on Liverpool to lift the title could quickly shorten.
