Poll Reaction: England tipped for Ladbrokes Four Nations glory

Wayne Bennett - England Rugby League

England may be 4/1 third-favourites to lift the Ladbrokes Rugby League Four Nations ahead of tonight’s opener – but it seems the good people of Twitter have plenty of faith in Wayne Bennett’s side.

Today’s @Ladbrokes poll asked who was going to win this year’s Four Nations, and hosts England blew the competition away with 42 per cent of the vote.

Bennett has put together a talented squad combining experienced pros like winger Ryan Hall and prop James Graham, with the youthful core of the Wigan Warriors side who won the Super League Grand Final earlier this month.

With prodigal son Sam Burgess also returning to the fold following his code-switch from Rugby Union last year, it’s easy to see why England are many people’s tip for tournament success.

Next up – but some way behind – were 8/15 favourites Australia, who trounced New Zealand in a 26-6 friendly match a fortnight back.

The Kangaroos bounced into second spot with a 20 per cent share, narrowly edging Scotland and New Zealand who finished on 19 per cent apiece.

Australia begin their defence of their Ladbrokes Four Nations title tonight, as overwhelming 1/500 favourites to defeat Scotland – with the Bravehearts 33/1 to cause a huge upset.

Then comes the turn of England, with 11/10 for the hosts to humble the world’s number-one ranked side in Huddersfield.

So, can England do the Ladbrokes Twitter Poll and Four Nations double? Only time will tell…
