Poll Reaction: Can England, Scotland and N. Ireland all win tonight?

Published:

England, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all playing away from home tonight in the latest batch of World Cup qualifiers. And we asked our Twitter followers exactly how many of those three sides will be travelling back to the United Kingdom with maximum points.

It’s a big ask for Gareth Southgate, Gordon Strachan and Michael O’Neill’s men to all win this evening, and at 180/1, the odds certainly support that.

But what did our voters think? Can England triumph in Slovenia for the third time? Will Scotland come out fighting in Slovakia after a disappointing draw with Lithuania? And could Northern Ireland achieve the unthinkable against world champions Germany?

Well, according to today’s poll, 35 per cent of you think that two teams will return home with three points to their name, while 31 per cent agreed that just the one would come back celebrating a win.

There’s little hope for that 180/1 coming in from our voters too, with just 21 per cent of you fancying every home nation side winning.

And, rather disappointingly, 13 per cent of you can’t see any of our teams winning. Tut-tut.

On the whole, all three sides have enjoyed relatively solid starts to this qualifying campaign, with the Scots and Norn Iron both picking up four points from their opening two games, while England have won both games without conceding.
