Matt Holt and Paul King bet on your Manchester Derby requests
Published:The pressure is on both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola ahead of tonight’s Manchester Derby at Old Trafford. But which manager will walk away from the latest dust-up with a smile on their face?
Manchester United take on rivals Manchester City in the fourth round of the EFL Cup and once again we’ve enlisted the services of top tipsters Matt Holt and Paul King to cast an eye over the action.
Here are their best bets, as priced up by those legendary chaps from Ladbrokes.
Oh, and that’s not all.
Once again, the bookies have gone the extra mile and priced up a whole load of #WhatAreTheOdds requests. You can find the lot here.
But in the meantime, check out how Matt and Paul are calling the big match…
MATT HOLT
Both Teams to Score, Over 2.5 Goals, Manchester United 20+ Booking Points and Manchester City 4+ Corners @7/1
Manchester United haven’t failed to score in any of their six home games so far this season, conceding in four of them. Manchester City have only failed to score twice in their eight away games this season, failing to keep a domestic clean sheet – with only their loss to Spurs going Under 2.5 Goals. The two sides met earlier this season, with City winning 2-1.
Manchester United have averaged 2.33 cards per game in the Premier League so far this season, including picking up four in last month’s Manchester Derby.
City, on the other hand, average 7 corners a game and have picked up 4 or more in their last seven derbies.
Smalling to be booked and Manchester City to Win in Extra Time or Penalties @25/1
Chris Smalling is susceptible to a card and I can see him picking one up here in what is likely to be a fiery affair.
I also expect City to qualify tonight, but there’s always a chance of Man United matches being a bit dull inside 90 minutes.
For that reason, I’m going to take a chance on them to win in extra time or on penalties.
PAUL KING
Man City/Draw Double Chance, Over 1.5 Second Half Goals and 30+ Booking Points @5/2
I’m not entirely sure why I’m so convinced but I really can’t see Man United winning this one tonight.
Man City/Draw double chance is a pretty tempting price at 1/2, so I think I’ll take that for the first part of my bet.
I’m expecting to see a few goals, but Man Utd have looked a bit dull early on in matches I’ve seen this season so I think they’ll mostly come in the second half. Over 1.5 second half goals is a more than decent price at just shy of evens.
Both Teams to Score (No), 12+ Corners, Under 50 Booking Points @7/1
Everyone thought there would be goals between Liverpool and Man Utd last week and it turned out to be a complete flop, so who’s to say this one won’t go the same way?
This one could easily end 1-0 or 2-0 either way, and if the referee tries to let the game flow – as you’d hope he would in a local derby – we will probably have a match with three or four yellows at the most.
