Before Jurgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool, the number of attacking midfielders at the club was often cited as a flaw in the Reds’ unbalanced squad. Nobody thinks that anymore.

The German has the Merseysiders sat second in the Premier League with his raft of forwards and number 10s raining in goals week in, week out.

Players like Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum would often be battling it out for the same spot in the side at any other club, but at Liverpool all of them are thriving as part of the same starting XI.

It comes as no real surprise, then, that Klopp is looking to expand on that template with the pursuit of one of La Liga’s brightest prospects.

Reports in Spain indicate that the former Borussia Dortmund coach is keeping tabs on Athletic Bilbao’s 22-year-old forward Inaki Williams.

Williams, who has one cap for Spain, has played in all six of Bilbao’s league games this season, helping the Basque side establish themselves in sixth place with four wins.

The youngster enjoyed a breakout campaign last term, scoring eight goals and laying on four assists in 25 league outings to cement his reputation as a highly-rated young player.

Although he is yet to find top gear in the current season, with no goals and just one assist, he remains a highly sought after talent.

Able to play on the right wing, from the left, or through the middle, the Blibao native appears a natural fit for Klopp’s current position-less attacking revolution at Anfield.
