LA Galaxy now favourites to land Man United outcast Rooney

LA Galaxy are the surprise frontrunners to sign Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, in what would arguably be the biggest deal in MLS history.
Traders have slashed odds of the 31-year-old teaming up with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole to just 7/2, following United boss Jose Mourinho’s latest statements.
Although he said he’d never force a player of Rooney’s calibre out of the club, the Special One has admitted that the 31-year-old may have to move on if he wants regular game time.
Rooney played no part in Sunday’s defeat away at Chelsea, failing to make the match-day squad. That means it’s now four league games in a row in which the striker hasn’t featured in a United starting XI, something which is almost alien to him since he made the move to Old Trafford back in 2004.
With 4/1 and 5/1 on offer for Rooney to sign for either New York Red Bulls or New York City, a move to the States seems like the striker’s most likely destination.
However, it’s just 9/2 for the striker to reunite with the Goodison Park faithful, with Ronald Koeman’s Everton side being the clear favourites to land the Red Devils skipper should he stay in the Premier League.
A move to Arsenal was within touching distance just three years ago, and the Gunners are 8/1 to finally acquire Rooney’s services.
Meanwhile, should Wazza turn to Non-League football in his quest for minutes on the pitch, both Salford City and FC United of Manchester are priced up at 14/1 as potential destinations.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Mourinho is on the rampage following recent criticism and the odds suggest it won’t be long before Rooney swaps Carrington for California.”
