Golf: Rory McIlroy 150/1 to bag all four Majors next year

It may not have been a vintage season for Rory McIlroy, but with the Northern Irishman ending the year in style, he’s primed for a sizeable assault on next year’s Majors.

After an inconsistent campaign, McIlroy rounded it off on a high by claiming both the Deutsche Bank and Tour Championships, while also impressing in the Ryder Cup.

And our traders have seen fit to price up his odds for Major glory next year.

Rory is 2/1 to land exactly one Major, something he achieved in each of 2011 and 2012.

Meanwhile, it’s 8/1 that the Hollyrood native repeats his stunning 2014 with two victories.

Bagging three is 40/1 while the biggest Rory fans may be swayed by the 150/1 on the 27-year-old creating history by snatching all four next year.

With all four of this year’s events seeing a first-time winner, the world of Golf is more competitive and open than ever before.

And with that in mind, many might fancy backing the 14/1 on the quartet again being won by men entering the world of Major winners for the first time next year.

Jason Day is the most likely man to win a 2017 Major at 3/2, with Dustin Johnson 13/8 following his breakthrough at the US Open this year.

Olympic champion Justin Rose is 13/2 to win one of the big ones next year, with Masters champion Danny Willett 14/1 for more Major success.

And what of Tiger Woods you say? The American is 12/1 to return to the big time with a Major victory next year.

It’s 4/1 that any player wins two or more Majors, something Rory, Jordan Spieth and Padraig Harrington have achieved inside the last eight years.

And finally, 100/1 is on offer for any player to win all four Majors.
