Formula One: Hamilton on a high but can he repeat Stateside stroll?
Formula One heads to Mexico where championship leader Nico Rosberg has his first show at winning the world crown. However, if Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton repeats his sublime performance from the USA a week ago, Rosberg’s champagne will have to remain on ice for a little longer.
Hamilton’s victory in Texas reduced the deficit to Rosberg to 26 points, but the German could wrap up the title if he can win and Hamilton finish 10th or lower.
It’s an unlikely scenario, but Rosberg’s title odds of 1/4 highlight Hamilton’s predicament.
The three-time champ is the 11/4 outsider for the title, but after his serene drive last weekend, cannot be discounted.
Hamilton can take further inspiration from the history books, as we highlighted earlier this week.
He’ll need to improve on last season’s trip to Mexico City however, when Rosberg took pole position and the win.
Over 300,000 spectators are expected to attend across the weekend, and they’ll all be hoping for a thriller at the front.
With the championship nearing a crescendo, Hamilton has nothing left to lose, and if Rosberg can rattle his cage, the crowd may just get their wish.
