As if monitoring a player’s injury status wasn’t problematic enough for budding Fantasy Football managers, the international break throws in an added dimension of uncertainty as top-flight action returns.
In an increasingly multinational league, both actual and fictional managers must keep track of their international stars travelling around the world.
The below three players have all been representing their nation in far corners of the globe and may be rested by their top-flight gaffers as a result:
Salomon Rondon
The Baggies frontman has been a hit with Fantasy managers, with his three goals in seven appearances ensuring his price has risen the fourth-most among strikers.
Despite his stellar form, Rondon has not started every top-flight game for Tony Pulis this term. He was dropped to the bench for the 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, the last time the top-flight returned from an international break.
Having taken in two matches for Venezuela this time around, it would be no surprise to see the Welshman relegate the 27-year-old to the sidelines once again.
Alexis Sanchez
Chile’s star man has scored the joint-most Fantasy points of any player so far this season – tying Kevin De Bruyne with 49 – but that will be of little concern to Arsene Wenger, who has a midweek Champions League game against Ludogorets coming up.
The Frenchman has been known to rest the livewire forward in order to preserve him for bigger assignments and with Sanchez playing 90 minutes for Chile against Peru on Wednesday, this could be another of those occasions.
Heung-min Son
Although the South Korean international is arguably the most in-form goal scorer in the Premier League, an international break of draining travel could well have sapped all the energy from his legs.
After netting in a home World Cup qualifier against Qatar, the former Bayer Leverkusen forward flew around 4000 miles to face Iran in Tehran and played the entire match.
