Crystal Palace v West Ham: Irons to turn up the heat on Eagles defence

Published:

After a difficult start to the season, West Ham’s odds of victory against Crystal Palace are a sizeable 13/5. But with the Irons having won 3-1 on their last two visits to Selhurst Park, it looks like the perfect time to take advantage of their unusually long odds.

The Hammers have struggled to pick up points on the road this season, but they’ve managed to net in all three of their away Premier League games – at Chelsea, Manchester City and West Brom.

Slaven Bilic’s men were also unfortunate not to take all three points against Middlesbrough last time out, with the East London club producing 21 attempts. And with such good service to the frontmen, it’s surely just a matter of time before they click.

As for Palace, their last three games in all competitions have seen Alan Pardew’s men win, lose and draw. However, while that looks like respectable form, only a sudden Sunderland collapse enabled the Eagles to grab a last-gasp victory at the Stadium of Light.

That means the 13/5 Hammers are the best shout in the match betting, with 11/10 for a Palace win and 5/2 for a first draw in five meetings at Selhurst.

One man with a good record in this fixture is Dimitri Payet, who netted in the Hammers’ 3-1 win and 2-2 draw with the Eagles last season. And he looks handsomely priced to make it three in a row, with 14/5 for the Frenchman to score anytime.

Those who expect history to repeat itself can also get on the Hammers to win 3-1 in south London once again at the hefty price of 25/1 – meaning £4 on that scoreline would recoup a three-figure sum.
