Bookies reckon Rangers v Celtic can be a feisty goal-fest

Published:

Rangers will be desperate for revenge as they host Celtic in a cracker of a League Cup semi-final on Sunday.

With the Hoops having run riot in a 5-1 triumph at Parkhead last time the pair met, Mark Warburton’s men will be determined to settle the score at Hampden Park.

However, they’ll have their hands full with Celtic’s array of attacking talent to contend with. Brendan Rodgers’ men have netted 16 times in their last five Ladbrokes Premiership games – with Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele having netted nine of those.

It’s 5/1 for the pair to score again on Sunday, while 7/2 says that Dembele and last season’s 40-goal man Leigh Griffiths are both among the goals.

Meanwhile, it’s 16s that the Gers pair of Martyn Waghorn and Kenny Miller both score for the hosts, with 20/1 saying it’s former English Championship stars Waghorn and Harry Forrester who get their name up in lights.

There’s the potential for hero status for both sets of strikers – but this is a game which sometimes sees the passions boil over. With four red cards dished out in the last two meetings, the 6/4 for another red card looks temptingly priced indeed.

And there’s a slim chance that passion could spill over to the touchline, with 20/1 for either manager to be sent to the stands.

In the match betting, Celtic are 4/7 favourites, with Rangers 9/2 and 3/1 for the draw.
