Arsenal tipped to splash cash on Leicester City star in January

Arsene Wenger celebrated 20 years as Arsenal boss earlier this month, and it appears he’s ready to mark the achievement with a spending spree once the transfer window reopens.

The Gunners boss is 4/1 to snap up wing wizard Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City in January, while 2/1 says the 25-year-old swaps the East Midlands for the Emirates by the end of next summer.

Having scooped up the PFA Player of the Year award last season, the Algerian is hot property right now, but he’s not the only Premier League talent catching Wenger’s eye.

Burnley’s Michael Keane is also on the Arsenal wishlist, with 6/1 for the former Man United man to arrive at Arsenal in the New Year, while 8/1 shot Andre Silva could also be house-hunting in North London very soon.

But although Silva has no prior experience of English football, it’s hard to see a player who’s netted seven goals in his last five games for club and country – Porto and Portugal – struggling to adapt to life on these shores.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Wenger is quickly shaking off his ‘cautious’ tag in the transfer market, and snapping up Mahrez and Keane in January would leave Gooners in a winter wonderland.”

Arsenal are 1/4 to beat Swansea at the Emirates on Saturday, though with an influx of top-class January arrivals a real possibility, it’s the 6/1 for the Gunners to win the league which could really be shaken up by the Frenchman’s transfer plans.
