West Brom boss favourite to face the boot first in the Premier League

He’s been in charge of West Bromwich Albion for just over 20 months, overseeing the arrivals of top names such as Darren Fletcher, Johnny Evans and more recently Nacer Chadli.
But Tony Pulis’ time in the Black Country is all but over, according to our traders, who make the Welshman even-money favourite to be the first Premier League manager to leave his post this season.
A run of just one win from 14 games, paired with a frustrating transfer window, has led many Baggies to boiling point, with a considerable amount of supporters keen on the idea of a reunion with former England manager Roy Hodgson.
Having been promised some exciting business this summer in the transfer market, West Brom fans eagerly sat in front of the TV right up until the window slammed shut, hopeful of seeing the likes of William Carvalho, Islam Slimani and Odion Ighalo turn up at the Hawthorns.
Instead they got Hal Robson-Kanu and Allan Nyom.
Neither featured in Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth, however there was room in the starting 11 for wantaway striker Saido Berahino – who hasn’t scored a league goal for the Baggies since February.
Baggies fans have enjoyed some good times with Pulis though, most notably wins against Arsenal and Manchester United last campaign.
And 23 clean sheets in the Premier League since January 2015 is certainly no mean feat.
But it’s at the other end of the pitch where Pulis’ men have struggled, scoring just 54 league goals since the former Stoke City boss took over – that’s a record which can’t be matched by any current Premier League team.
And with a £170m takeover approved by the Premier League earlier this week, Guochuan Lai’s first job as owner may be to find a new manager, if recent trends in betting are anything to go by.
