St Leger: Lady set to add to De Sousa’s total on day two

After a pretty decent start to this year’s Ladbrokes St Leger Festival we’re going back in to give you our best bets for day two at Doncaster.

Both Andok and Mount Logan obliged for us on the opening day while the only issue we had with the Lively Longshot was the fact we picked the wrong Clive Cox horse.

Minor technicality.

Anyway, that hasn’t detterred our search for more punting profit.

Here’s what we’re offering up today…

NAP – Spiritual Lady – 15:40 Doncaster

Big-priced winners have been a feature of this race in recent years but don’t let that put you off the one currently heading the market.

Defending Champion Flat Jockey Silvestre De Sousa has a packed book of rides today and this looks one of his best with Spiritual Lady ready to defy an 18lb rise since winning impressively by 3¾l at Chelmsford last time out.

The fact her jockey is down to 8st 1lb should help matters in that department with Philip McBride’s charge looking laid out for this contest.

NB – Blending – 14:30 Doncaster

Much of the talk in the tipping columns has centred around recent Group 3 winner Kilmah and the fourth in that race, Rich Legacy.

But we’re swerving both to side with the formidable John Gosden-Frankie Dettori partnership.

Bleding stayed on well to win by 2l at Newmarket on her previous outing with the runner-up that day also going on to score nicely.

The extra furlong here should be no problem and we’re feeling confident our man Frankie can do the business.

Lively Longshot – Pretty Perfect – 15:05 Doncaster

We’re plumping for a biggie in the feature race of the day, the Park Hill Stakes.

The progressive three-year-old Abingdon and last year’s St Leger heroine Simple Verse have dominated the build-up but we think there’s value to be had further down the list.

Pretty Perfect should appreciate any cut in the ground and the drop down in class having been tasked with Group 1 assignments more recently.

Her comfortable success in the Munster Oaks led to that elevation and if back to that kind of form the Master of Ballydoyle could be left toasting another fantastic victory.
