St Helens triumph and what else to expect from huge Super League clashes

There couldn’t be more at stake in this weekend’s three enormous Super League clashes.
Warrington Wolves host St Helens and Wigan Warriors welcome Hull FC in the Super 8’s play-offs, and it’s all-or-nothing for Hull KR and Salford Red Devils, with the Million Pound game deciding who remains in Super League, and who heads through the trapdoor to the Championship.
Here are our top tips ahead of an action-packed weekend of Rugby League.
Form, Experience and History will give St Helens victory
Saints hero Kieron Cunningham has enhanced his legendary status at Langtree Park by leading the Merseyside outfit to 11 wins in their last 12 Super League outings, to secure a play-off spot in style, scoring over 30 points in their last six games.
Cunningham’s men have won four of their last six games against Warrington, and also have plenty of experience winning big games – having won the Grand Final back in 2014.
In their last big test – the 2016 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup final – the Wolves fell just short. That often happens in this fixture, with three of Saints’ last four victories coming with a winning margin of under five points.

Hull FC’s struggle to find momentum points to Wigan win
It’s the Airlie Birds who have flown highest for most of the season, but three defeats in their last four Super League outings have seen Lee Radford’s men slip out of form and into third place.
By contrast, Wigan are discovering their best form of the season. One man who deserves huge credit in the Warriors’ resurgence is winger Anthony Gelling, with the New Zealander grabbing five tries in as many games for the visitors.
Expect him to dominate against a Hull defence who have conceded 84 points in their last four outings.
High-scoring Hull KR can beat unsettled Salford
Despite plenty of quality in their squad, Salford Red Devils have struggled to bounce back from the confirmation of their points deduction, and with key man Adam Walne suspended, they’re likely to fall short at Hull KR.
For their part, the Robins have been smashing opponents with regularity in recent weeks, scoring 58 points against each of Batley Bulldogs and London Broncos in the Qualifiers. Expect them to race into a lead against a Salford side short on confidence, and to win by a comfortable margin
