Prices fall on Champions League success for Manchester City

Published:

Manchester City’s 4-0 demolition of Borussia Monchengladbach last night has seen the bookies rushing to slice odds on the Citizens’ Champions League success, with their price falling from 12/1 to 9/1 to lift the trophy.

And after an agonising semi-final exit last year, it’s 7/2 that Pep Guardiola’s men go one better than last season by reaching the final.

That’s a tempting price when considering how effortlessly Pep’s men demolished the German giants last night, as well as becoming the first away side to win at Old Trafford in 14 matches on Saturday.

One man they’ll need to continue his fine form is Sergio Aguero, who is 7/2 to finish as the UCL top-scorer this season, following his hat-trick against Die Fohlen at the Etihad.

But Man City weren’t the only Premier League side to produce European excellence last night, with Leicester City cruising to a 3-0 win at Club Brugge on their Champions League debut.

It’s 7/4 for Claudio Ranieri’s men to make the quarter-finals this season, while 7/1 says the Foxes upset the odds yet again to book a place in the semis.

A Ladbrokes Spokesperson said: “Last night saw this pair do England proud in Europe, and the odds suggest we could see plenty more continental success from classy City and the fantastic Foxes.”
