Our 25/1 NFL accumulator requires Jets, Jags and others to win

We’d be amazed if anyone out there still eagerly awaits this ill-fated series anymore, after opening up the season without a successful accumulator in the first three weeks. Nevertheless, here we are soldiering on for a fourth crack at the whip.
If anything, our form is deteriorating after only landing three wins in last week’s miserly sevenfold of favourites, but, forever learning from our mistakes, we’re taking a new approach this time around.
Fewer teams, bigger outsiders and a larger payday, that’s the motto driving the inspiration for this fourfold of gargantuan 25/1 odds, which kicks off by plonking the Jacksonville Jaguars straight into the betslip.
The team that have started the season without a win and share ownership with Championship football club Fulham will be playing not too far from Craven Cottage, at Wembley, this week.
This is the Jags’ fourth trip across the pond and the last time they were here they won. They face opponents in the Indianapolis Colts who have never previously made this energy-sapping mid-season journey before. The Jags’ experience will tell at 23/20. We hope.
Back in America, the New York Jets take on the Seattle Seahawks as outsiders at the same price. Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had the worst performance of his career last week when he threw six interceptions and lost two fumbles against the Kansas City Chiefs.
We can fully empathise with Fitzy’s need to bounce back this week, so we’re throwing our weight, and cash, behind him to lead his team to victory.
Who wins a fight between a bear and a lion? Well in NFL circles it tends to be the latter with the Lions of Detroit enjoying six straight wins over the Chicago Bears. In fact, pretty much any NFL-themed creature beats the Bears, who have lost 11 of their last 12 home games.
But, just like our unlucky acca stretch, these things have to come to an end eventually and at odds of 6/5, we’re willing to bet it happens this weekend.
To round things off we’ve somewhat surprisingly followed a form horse. As we alluded to earlier, the Chiefs were the benefactors of Fitzpatrick’s charity last week, cantering to a 24-3 win over the Jets.
They now face a Pittsburgh Steelers side that managed just three points themselves last time, in a 34-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
All that considered, we’ll just call this one the banker of the bet and wait for our winnings to roll in.
