Optimistic fan banking on Bulgaria joy with #WhatAreTheOdds bet

England were the only UEFA side to win every qualifying game ahead of Euro 2016, but one punter is backing Bulgaria to repeat the feat by winning all 10 World Cup qualifying games to reach Russia in style with a #WhatAreTheOdds bet at the gigantic price of 1000/1.

So, could the Lions really hoover up all 30 points on offer to give the bookies a Balkan bashing?

Well, they’ve certainly managed some eye-catching successes in recent times, including a draw with European titans Italy, and a 1-0 victory over Euro 2016 winners Portugal in Lisbon, making Bulgaria the only visitors to beat A Selecao during the last two years.

And despite missing out on the Euro 2016 play-offs in a tough group, Ivaylo Petev’s men have started this campaign with a victory, with four different players netting for Bulgaria in their 4-3 triumph over Luxembourg.

However, the mammoth odds for this bet are reflected by the fact that the Lions haven’t made it to a major tournament since Euro 2004, and share a tough qualifying group with the former European Championship winners France and the Netherlands.

Oh, and the three away goals Luxembourg managed was their best ever haul in an away game.

So, is this one worth backing at 1000/1?

Well, as the Leicester City story proved, stranger things have happened, but Bulgaria will need to produce the level of performance they managed in Portugal earlier this year throughout their remaining nine games, if they’re to leave the backers of this bet in dreamland.

For those keen on Bulgaria but not convinced they can produce this against-all-odds triumph, they can be backed to win their qualifying group at the slightly more modest price of 28/1.
