Neil Lennon’s Hibernian face another test in Ladbrokes Championship

Published:

Another week of Ladbrokes SPFL football is upon us, and we’re back with your five best bets for the lower leagues of Scottish football, starting with the Championship…

Hibernian v Dundee United

Neil Lennon is in unfamiliar territory at the moment, having failed to win in his last two league games with Hibernian. And this weekend he’s up against a Dundee United side who are yet to get going this season.

United have scored and conceded in each of their last six games in all competitions, while you’d have to go back to April 2015 to find the last time the Hibees failed to score at home in the league.

Best Bet – Both teams to score @ 8/13

St Mirren v Falkirk

Falkirk can make it five league wins on the bounce for the first time since early 2014 with victory against bottom of the league St Mirren.

And the Saints haven’t beaten the visitors for almost seven years, making the 11/10 on the in-form side of the league adding another three points to their tally.

Best Bet – Falkirk to win @ 11/10

Alloa Athletic v Airdrieonians

Ladbrokes League 1 leaders and top-scorers Alloa can add to their points and goals tally this weekend with a comfortable win against a side that they’ve lost in two of their last three visits to the Indodrill Stadium.

Jordan Kirkpatrick got off to a flier this season, netting five goals in August. But September hasn’t been the greatest of months for the 24-year-old on a personal level. Perhaps a new month may bring a return of his early season goalscoring instinct.

Best Bet – Alloa to score over 2.5 goals @ 15/8

Albion Rovers v Queen’s Park

Of their seven league games so far this season, Queen’s Park have scored a mere five goals, making them the joint-lowest scorers in all four tiers of the Ladbrokes SPFL. Not exactly a record to boast about.

And the Spiders side have failed to score more than one in each of their last six games against Saturday’s opponents. Expect a quiet afternoon for Ross Stewart in the Albion goal.

Best Bet – Albion Rovers to keep a clean sheet @ 15/8

Forfar Athletic v Montrose

Gary Bollan’s men have been in frightening form this season, and they can maintain their 100 per cent record with a win over a Montrose side who have won just one of their last seven league games.

The last time these two met was back in July 2015, where Forfar ran out 1-0 winners in the Challenge Cup.

The Loons have scored an impressive 11 games in three home games this season, and we reckon they’ll add another handful to that tally this weekend.

Best Bet – Forfar to score over 2.5 goals @ 11/8
