Is Melvin doomed to be the first Strictly elimination?

Melvin Odoom - Strictly Come Dancing

Melvin Odoom is being backed to be the first celebrity to waltz out of Strictly Come Dancing this weekend according to the latest odds.

The radio and TV personality has seemingly struggled to win over fans and is now heavily fancied to leave the competition on Sunday evening at odds of 7/4, despite Ed Balls being chalked up as the odds-on favourite to go at 4/5.

It’s a 7/1 shot that Lesley Joseph is given her marching orders, and the same price is on offer than any other contest finds themselves as a shock evictee.

At the other end of the market Danny Mac remains the red-hot favourite for glory at 3/1, followed by Will Young and Louise Redknapp who are rated as 5/1 shots.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It’s early days but it already looks like time’s ticking for Melvin. Ed might not be the most natural dancer to grace the Strictly ballroom floor, but as this year’s novelty act it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him upset the elimination odds for some time yet.”
