Most of Everton’s summer transfer window was spent throwing oodles of cash at fellow middling Premier League clubs for their best players.

Yannick Bolasie, Ashley Williams and Enner Valencia, albeit on loan, were three of the Toffees’ six acquisitions during the off-season and have helped the club make an impressive start under new manager Ronald Koeman.

Their bubble burst somewhat in the EFL Cup in midweek though, as Championship Norwich put them out with a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park.

In revenge, the Merseysiders now reportedly want to sign two of the Canaries’ brightest prospects.

According to the Mirror, Everton are interested in wing-twins Josh and Jacob Murphy, who have both been developed in the Norwich academy.

In fact is was Josh who scored the second goal as Alex Neil’s men triumphed over Koeman’s squad, clearly impressing the Dutchman with his performance.

Like Everton, Norwich have made a flying start to their league campaign, sitting second in the Championship after eight games.

21-year-old Jacob has been a key figure in that, scoring three goals in his five starts and leading the way with a team-high 3.8 shots per game.

The brothers both prefer occupying the left wing, but can operate from the right too, while Jacob has also been used in a number 10 role.

If Everton are to land the pair, they will have to fight off other top-flight suitors like West Brom, Crystal Palace, Hull and Swansea, the Mirror say.
