Chelsea’s homecoming king can get revenge on Mourinho

Published:

Chelsea fans reacted with a mixture of delight, amazement and – in a few cases – despair at the Deadline Day return of unpredictable defender David Luiz. But among the possible doubters, there’ll be one man he’s most determined to impress – Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese boss flogged Luiz to PSG back in the summer of 2014, and his former centre-back is 5/1 to leave Mou moping by scoring against his Manchester United side this season.

He may only have netted seven times for the Stamford Bridge outfit in domestic competition, but three of those goals came against the Red Devils, meaning those odds could prove very tempting indeed.

Meanwhile, 4/7 says the Blues faithful will see the cult hero find the net at Stamford Bridge in any competition this season, while it’s 7/4 he gets to add to his three major honours with the club this season.

But there’s no denying the club’s prodigal son can produce a tackle as wild as his hair, and the 9/4 for him to see red before the campaign ends is already getting plenty of backers.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “The Prem just wasn’t the same without Luiz’s mad lunges, his memorable goals and his all-action style.”

“The question is – will it be a grim or glorious season for the loveable Brazilian and his Blues teammates?”

Chelsea are next in action at Swansea, with 4/7 for the west London outfit to grab a crucial away win, while Blues fans can back a repeat of their 5-0 victory at Liberty Stadium last year at a huge 50/1.
