Champions League Acca Attack: Arsenal can carry good form into Europe

Published:

Matchday two is upon us in the Champions League, and while Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester and Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur were both in action last night, this evening it’s the turn of Arsenal and Manchester City to represent England.

While the Citizens face a potentially tricky away tie against Celtic, the Gunners have been handed an opportunity to top the group with a win against FC Basel at the Emirates.

And Arsene Wenger’s men feature in tonight’s fivefold, which pays just over 117/1!

Arsenal to beat FC Basel

Arsenal did well to come out of their Champions League opener with a point against a strong PSG side, and they can carry their form into this home tie against the Swiss outfit who could only manage a draw against Ludogorets.

Throw into the mix the fact that Arsenal have a 100 per cent win record against Swiss opposition, and it’s hard to see a way past Mesut Ozil and co in this one.

Atletico Madrid to beat Bayern Munich

Granted, this is a brave shout to kick-off our acca, but last year’s runners-up have been in incredible domestic and European form in recent years.

Having conceded just two goals in all competitions so far this season, if there is any side capable of keeping Bayern Munich at bay, it’s Diego Simeone’s Atletico.

And it’s the home side who head into this one with the psychological advantage, as they defeated the German champions en route to the final last year, winning 1-0 in this fixture back in April.

PSV Eindhoven to beat FC Rostov

FC Rostov are currently on a 12-match unbeaten run in all competitions at home, and they have already beaten two Dutch sides in order to qualify for this year’s group stage.

But their form of late has been shaky to say the least, and the 5-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of Bayern Munich emphasises just how out of their depth they are in this competition.

PSV lost their opening game to Atletico Madrid, and they’ll be keen to get back to winning ways at the earliest opportunity in a group containing two of the biggest names in European football in Atletico and Bayern.

Benfica to beat Napoli

This is where the value lies in tonight’s acca, as the Portuguese champions are a tempting 9/2 to win in Italy.

And it’s not a massive ask, either. After all, this is a Benfica side that defeated Atletico Madrid in last year’s competition and only lost 3-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

Napoli are competing in the Champions League for the first time since 2013, and although they won their opening game against Dynamo Kiev, they face a much tougher test in Benfica. Take advantage of our Acca Insurance and boost your returns by backing Rui Vitoria’s men to shock the Italians.

Besiktas to beat Dynamo Kiev

While Kiev lost their opening group match at home to Napoli, Besiktas earned a hard-fought draw against a tough Benfica side, and that performance will give Senol Gunes’ men bags of confidence heading into this one.

Cenk Tosun has been in fine form for the Turkish outfit so far this season, netting five goals in as many league games, and the home side will be hoping the 25-year-old striker’s presence will be a deciding factor in tonight’s fixture.

Besiktas could even top their group if results go their way, and that’s something Tosun and co will be thinking about come kick-off.
