Cardinals retained in NFL acca with some making up to do

Published:

We learned a valuable lesson during week one of the NFL season: Never back against the New England Patriots, even if their entire offensive catches food poisoning hours before the game and is replaced by drunken tailgaters from the parking lot.

The Pats’ 23-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals, with then-unknown Jimmy Garoppolo filling in for multi-Super Bowl winner Tom Brady at quarterback, was the only blemish in our attempt at a 6/1 fivefold.

Here’s our second try, another near-6/1 five timer:

Pittsburgh Steelers to beat Cincinnati Bengals @ 5/9

Both teams opened up with victories in week one, but the Bengals got theirs in a one-point nail biter against the New York Jets, while the Steelers obliterated the Washington Redskins by 22.

Oakland Raiders to beat Atlanta Falcons @ 5/11

A 35-34 win on the road to the New Orleans Saints has Oakland pumped to claim their first 2-0 start since 2002.

The Falcons’ defensive unit looked soft in their week-one loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and another sackless game here will give them a mountain to climb.

Baltimore Ravens to beat Cleveland Browns @ 10/29

Ravens quarterback has a lifetime record of 13 wins in 15 games against the Browns, which should compound a losing start to the season for Cleveland.

The Browns lost their own passer, Robert Griffin III, to a potentially season-ending injury last time out and will replace him with 37-year-old Josh McCown.

Arizona Cardinals to beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ 10/29

It was the Cardinals that denied us last week, but we’re keeping the faith as they host the Buccaneers.

Arizona has arguably the most talented roster in the NFL, which will help turn their losing record around at the earliest opportunity.

Detroit Lions (-5.5) to beat Tenessee Titans @ 20/23

A balanced offensive output in last week’s narrow win over the Indianapolis Colts bodes well for the Lions, who are without their star wide receiver following Calvin Johnson’s retirement.

The Titans gave up 25 points to the Vikings in a game they were favoured to win last week.
