Alloa striker Greig Spence is out to impress against old Celtic pals

Greig Spence is determined to impress against Celtic but insists he holds no bitterness towards his old club.
The Alloa striker is back at the side he started his career with and should lead the line when they face the Hoops in the League Cup quarter finals on Wednesday night.
He broke into the Wasps first team at the age of 16 in 2009 before earning a £100,000 move to Celtic a year later.
But despite winning youth titles and impressing out on loan with Hamilton, Spence failed to make a first team appearance and was released in 2012.
He’s since gone about rebuilding his career with Raith, Cowdenbeath and two spells at Alloa.
And ahead of a big meeting with his old Celtic side, Spence insists he holds no grudge against his former employers.
Instead, he wants to prove he’s capable of mixing it with the top players in Scotland.
Asked exclusively by Ladbrokes News about there being any extra motivation, Spence said: “Yeah, definitely. But no-one is bitter about it not working out there because to make it at Celtic you’re competing with international players who are signed for millions year after year.
“So to not break through there isn’t a bad thing on any player. There’s no bitter taste.
“It will be good to go back and make a good account of myself. Maybe show that I can play at that level because there are boys who were in the same youth team as me who are playing every week for Celtic – and if I’m perfectly honest they’re not a million miles better than me.
“That’s only the way I look at it. Players get the breaks, but there’s not that big a difference between the boys who break through and those who get released.
“But that’s the way football is. You can look all over Scotland and England for boys who have left Celtic and Rangers and went on to better things.
“Obviously I’m only 24 so a few good seasons and I could be back at that sort of level.”
