What can Birmingham City expect from new man Greg Stewart?

Birmingham fans haven’t had too much to cheer about in recent years, but the signing of Greg Stewart from Dundee is a rare moment to savour.

Stewart has signed for the Blues on a three-year-deal after the club forked out £500k for the Scottish striker, potentially rising to £1m.

Widely regarded as one of the best talents in the Ladbrokes Premiership, City fans can look forward to watching a player with a multitude of excellent attributes.

The 26-year-old began his career at Cowdenbeath, and impressed immediately by firing home nine goals in the then-Division One despite barely being out of his teens.

After four years with Cowden – ending with 11 goals in 33 Championship games in the 2013-14 season – Stewart got the big move his talent deserved.

Stepping up to the Premiership with Dundee, Stewart quickly showed his talent, firing in another 13 goals.

But what became evident in the 2014-15 season, and what Birmingham fans should really relish, is the Scots’ ability to bring team-mates into the game.

In two seasons with Dundee, Stewart recorded a stunning 25 assists in the Ladbrokes Premiership, and had continued that form into this campaign too.

In just three games this term, the striker hammered in six goals and two assists, so the Blues have bought a player in sensational form.

All of this means Stewart can quickly become a crowd favourite at St Andrew’s, and his arrival could also benefit another signing by the Blues this week – Che Adams from Sheffield United.

Adams is only 20, but is rapidly improving, and with Stewart’s superb selfless play, he and Birmingham could really thrive this season.
