Odds tumble on Man City star exiting for Chinese Super League

Published:

Pep Guardiola’s Champions League squad for Manchester City’s crucial clash with Steaua Bucharest has been announced, and once again, the new boss has once again omitted Yaya Toure. And that could signal the Ivorian’s exit from the Etihad.

While the midfielder won’t be on the plane to Romania, he could be set for a long-haul flight of his own, with a move to the Chinese Super League having fallen from 8/1 to just 7/2.

The Champions League winner featured 47 times for the Citizens last season, but having threatened to leave the club back in 2014, his European omission could see the unpredictable Toure part company with the club.

That will be music to the ears of Inter Milan fans, with 5/1 for the Serie A giants to snap up the 33-year-old, while Chelsea are the Premier League frontrunners at 16s and Liverpool at 20/1.

However, the bookies have ruled out a Glasgow reunion with brother Kolo, with 50/1 for the pair to team up at Celtic this season.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It seems the surly City star could finally be heading for an Etihad exit, and the lure of China could prove tough to resist – especially if there’s a club who’ll guarantee him a birthday cake.”

Man City are 9/20 to secure victory at Steaua tonight, but it seems one of the club’s biggest names could be skipping the game to find flights to the Far East.
