Odds halved for Arsenal to get their gloves on Man City keeper

Having already spent big on Borussia Monchengladbach’s rock-solid Granit Xhaka this summer, Arsene Wenger could be set to open Arsenal’s warchest again, with a move for Manchester City keeper Joe Hart looking increasingly likely.

The 29-year-old struggled to recapture his best form in last season’s Premier League, with City shipping 41 goals – their highest total since 2009-10. And that was followed by a difficult Euro 2016 campaign.

However, there’s no doubt that of Hart’s agility and shot-stopping prowess, meaning potential suitors have been lining up throughout the summer.

And with Pep Guardiola ringing the changes on the blue side of Manchester, the bookies have slashed the odds of Hart swapping the Etihad for the Emirates from 8/1 to just 4/1.

Liverpool are next in the running at 10/1, with London pair Chelsea and Tottenham both 12s to tempt the 29-year-old to the capital.

However, our traders have deemed a return to boyhood club Shrewsbury Town rather far-fetched with Salop 500/1 to bring their famous son home.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “With Pep’s City clearout continuing, it seems Wenger could pick up a Hart-warming signing for Gunners fans.”

Arsenal begin the Premier League season with a tasty tie against Liverpool, where it’s 5/4 the Gunners enjoy an opening-day victory at the Emirates. But will it be Petr Cech, David Ospina or Joe Hart between the sticks for the north London giants?
