Leicester should look forward to monster UCL fixtures, voters say

Leicester City fans should soak up the atmosphere on once-in-a-life-time European away days in this year’s Champions League – at least that’s the opinion of our latest Twitter poll.

It’s the first time Leicester will have ever competed in the competition, and though their fans will be feeling optimistic, it seems the good people of Twitter would rather face Europe’s elite for the experience, rather than play some of the weaker teams in the competition just for an easier route to the knockouts.

The Foxes will find out this evening exactly who they’ll be up against, as the long-awaited Champions League draw takes place in Monaco.

Today we asked our followers what they’d want out of this year’s Champions League if they were Leicester City fans, and 57 per cent of you decided that trips to some of the greatest clubs in European football would far outweigh a simpler route to the knockouts.

Tomorrow we will find out exactly who the Foxes will be up against in the group stages, and having secured a place in pot one thanks to their remarkable title win last season (remember it?), they already know they’ll avoid the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

But they could still potentially face trips to Borussia Dortmund, PSV Eindhoven and AS Monaco.

While ‘Big names/away days’ pretty much ran away with it, 32 per cent of you thought that an easy a route as possible would be the best thing for Claudio Ranieri’s men, and that Jamie Vardy and co. should welcome teams such as Bayer Leverkusen, Club Brugge and Ludogorets Razgrad in favour of the bigger names in the competition.

It turns out that 11 per cent of you would fancy as lazy a route as possible if you were Leicester fans – thus avoiding long distance trips to Russia against the likes of CSKA Moscow and FC Rostov.

Punters who think the Leicester fairytale can stretch on to Europe can get 80/1 on them to win the Champions League.
