How Twitter reacted as Bradley Wiggins made history once again
Published:Sir Bradley Wiggins is now officially Britain’s greatest Olympian after the 36-year-old won Gold in the 4km pursuit in Rio, and naturally, Twitter went mad for it.
Wiggo now has eight Olympic medals – one more than Chris Hoy – and boasts five Golds in a haul which began way back at Sydney in 2000.
Alongside Ed Clancy, Owain Doull and Steven Burke, the British quartet lined up against Australia in last night’s final, and fought back to win a thrilling showpiece.
It all went down rather well on social media…
BBC presenter Clare Balding posed the question we were all thinking before last night’s final…
To date, these two are Britain’s greatest Olympians. Will they be surpassed tonight by Sir Bradley Wiggins? #Wiggo pic.twitter.com/G5LlZWox52

Although fellow cycling legend Mark Cavendish wasn’t expecting much sleep…

Oh yeah, Wiggins and the team set a new world record too. What a night.
Not only is Wiggins now Britain’s greatest Olympian, he’s possibly the funniest too, and he couldn’t help himself during the podium ceremony…

There is certainly only one Sir Bradley Wiggins.
Ladbrokes is not an official sponsor of the Olympics and is in no way affiliated with any of the competing athletes, events or competitions being held in Rio de Janeiro this summer.
