Friday Night Football gets huge thumbs up from fans

Overkill or a great excuse to start the weekend early? It’s fair to say that the permanent introduction of Friday Night Football has caused a stir.

However, the debate is over as far as our Twitter followers are concerned. Earlier in the day we asked the simple question: ‘Friday Night Football – Yes or No?’

And the result was that a whopping 77 per cent of you voted in favour of FNF and all the joys it promises to bring.

Granted, that still left 24 per cent (hold ‘yer horses) voicing their discontent with concerns around fans having to make late-night travel arrangements and too much of the beautiful game on the box the main objections raised.

But when all is said and done it’s impossible to ignore the groundswell of support that exists for top-flight football to be shown on a Friday evening.

Manchester United’s match-up against Southampton kicks-off this season’s coverage with the Red Devils the 8/15 favourites to take all three points.

The Saints have beaten United 1-0 on their last two visits to Old Trafford though with odds of 14/1 offered for a repeat outcome.

Whatever happens, tonight’s clash looks sure to whet the appetite for FNF fans.
