Five things to expect from Sky Sports’ Friday Night Football

This year’s Premier League is one of many firsts. It’s the first time the title will be kept in the Midlands for the duration of the season, it’s the first time a player with two ‘kh’s’ in his name will play in the top flight (cheers, Henrikh Mkhitaryan) and it’s the first time we’ll regularly be seeing live matches on a Friday night.

So what can we expect from Sky’s new show? We’ve compiled a list of five things to look out for tomorrow night…

Jeff Stelling to use the line “the countdown is over”

Here’s a joke that will run and run. Friday Night Football brings with it two faces of the popular daytime TV show Countdown, as the glamorous Rachel Riley joins her former Channel 4 colleague Jeff Stelling on the show for her Sky Sports debut.

Given she’s a Manchester United fan it’s quite fitting that her first assignment will be to cover her beloved Red Devils against Southampton.

And it’ll certainly take a mathematician to work out Jose Mourinho’s total spend this summer (yep, we went there).

Rachel Riley to be given a football conundrum to solve

I’d probably just about manage to crack Jordon Ibe in a conundrum, providing his first name wasn’t included. But Miss Riley may fancy her chances of solving this one…
