Man United handed favourable draw in Europa League groups

Manchester United’s odds for the Europa League have been cut following a favourable Group draw for Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Red Devils will meet Turkish side Fenebahce (current home to former Red Robin van Persie) Dutch outfit Feneynoord and Ukrainian underdogs Zorya in Group A.

United are now 6/1 favourites to win the tournament, in from 8/1 earlier this year.

Southampton are the only other English side in the competition following West Ham’s play-off demise.

Saints’ fans should be pretty pleased with their draw, which will see Claude Puel’s men head on a historic trip to the San Siro to play Serie A giants Inter.

That tasty tie, in addition to Sparta Prague and Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva hands the Hampshire club a solid balance of winnable ties plus a European heavyweight in Group K.

The bookies haven’t changed their stance on Saints’ claiming a famous European trophy however, with the south-coast side out slightly from 25/1 to 28s.

Irish giant-killers Dundalk are also in the mix too, becoming just the second club from the Emerald Isle to get to this stage.

They may be disappointed not to have landed a Roma or an Ajax, but nevertheless, this memorable adventure for Stephen Kenny’s side will head Zenit St Petersburg, AZ Alkmaar and Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Group D.

Lilywhites fans had better dig out that passport!

Elsewhere second-favourites Roma will meet Viktoria Plzen, Austria Vienna and West Ham’s conquerors Astra Giurgiu in Group E.
