England v Pakistan ODI 3: The value bets on offer at Trent Bridge

Alex Hales has managed just 21 runs from his number two spot in England’s ODI team during two internationals against Pakistan so far this month, but the Nottinghamshire opener is worth a bet back on his home track when Eoin Morgan’s side attempt to wrap up the series in double-quick time.
Joe Root top scored with a thunderous 89 as the Three Lions eased to a four-wicket win over the visitors with 15 balls to spare at Lord’s, having fallen just four runs short of opener Jason Roy’s 65 in an even more comfortable triumph days earlier in Southampton.
The in-form Yorkshireman is an enhanced 7/2 (from 11/4) to do so again at Trent Bridge, with Roy and Hales back at 4/1 and 9/2, and Morgan 5/1 after following up 33 not out on the south coast with an impressive knock of 68 in the capital.
However, it could pay to side with Hales at his home ground, with his odds surely skewed due to that fact following a poor return so far against Pakistan.
Understandably, seeing as he has been at Nottinghamshire for almost a decade, many of the 27-year-old’s best moments have come at Trent Bridge, including hitting 150 off 102 balls in a 2009 Pro40 match, and six sixes in two overs as part of an unbeaten 86 in t20 Blast action last year.
The logic may seem skewed, but his fellow opener slumped to a duck in London after claiming England top-batsman honours at the Ageas Bowl, showing how quickly form can turn around.
In the attacking ranks, Mark Wood has taken the joint-most wickets in both ODIs so far, with two matching Adil Rashid in Southampton and three as good as Chris Woakes last time out.
The Durham fast-bowler looks decent at an enhanced 4/1 in the same market ahead of this match, which England are warm favourites at 1/3 to win, with Pakistan 5/2.
