Countdown Boosts: West Ham boosted as they enter new digs
If it hadn’t been for Leicester City’s heroics, far more people would have handed West Ham the plaudits for a sterling season as they bade farewell to their beloved Boleyn Ground.
After 112 years at the famous venue, the Hammers ended their final campaign in a highly-respectable seventh place under club legend Slaven Bilic.
The Hammers were only four points off a Champions League place as players such as Dimitri Payet and Mikhail Antonio became household names.
Now at a new home – the Olympic Stadium no less – Bilic’s men are looking upwards once more.
As we continue our Premier League Countdown Boosts, we’re offering a host of enhancements on the Hammers this term…
08:00-12:00: West Ham to finish in the Bottom Half was 9/4, NOW 11/4
It wouldn’t be the first time the Irons have fallen down. In both 2005-2006 and 2008-09 West Ham finished ninth, only to end up 15th and 17th respectively in the following seasons.
12:00-15:00: West Ham to finish above Tottenham was 7/2, NOW 5/1
This won’t be easy for the Hammers, with Tottenham impressing greatly last season.
While Bilic has strongly added to his squad, Spurs have landed just two signings to a team lacking in depth, and one which could suffer now it must also deal with Champions League football.
15:00-18:00: West Ham to finish in the Top 6 was 5/2, NOW 7/2
The Hammers’ seventh place last term was their best result since 1999, and with the buzz of a new stadium to look forward to, plus a few smart summer signings, a top six finish must be a realistic target.
18:00-22:00: Dimitri Payet to score 10 or more Premier League goals was 7/2, NOW 5/1
The Frenchman was the biggest star last season not to be wearing a Leicester City shirt, netting nine times in addition to a host of magical assists and moments of skill.
With a stunning Euro 2016 performance behind him, and with a year of Premier League experience to call upon, Payet should improve yet more this time around.
