Who is… the Marseille man Spurs want to swap Clinton N’Jie for?

Clinton N’Jie arrived at Tottenham as an extremely raw £12m prospect, but after just eight Premier League appearances it appears the north Londoners are ready to move on.

The pacey 22-year-old had his debut campaign at White Hart Lane disrupted by injury, however is rumoured to be the makeweight in Spurs’ latest raid over the English Channel.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have opened talks with Marseille over the purchase of Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, with N’Jie being loaned to the French club with a view to a permanent switch further down the line.

Like N’Jie, the Marseille man is a quick, young wide man with potential. He made 25 outings in Ligue 1 last season, getting on the scoresheet five times and registering another three assists.

Despite being a year younger than Cameroonian N’Jie, N’Koudou is considerably more experienced having been exposed to more first-team football.

The 21-year-old played 34 league games for Nantes before signing for L’OM for just £1.2m last summer.

West Ham, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been tracking the Versailles native too, the Mail say, so Spurs must move fast if they want to wrap up any deal.

Having also been linked with moves for Newcastle’s Georginio Wijnaldum and German superstar Mario Gotze, it’s clear Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add to his offensive stocks this summer.

Unfortunately it appears N’Jie is not part of the plans this season, despite rarely getting the chance to impress.

His eight top-flight outings amounted to just 184 minutes last term and a return to France, where he played 30 league games for Lyon before moving to England, appears his best chance of reigniting his career.

Tottenham are priced up at 21/20 to finish in the top four this season and open their campaign against Everton, where they are 19/10 to win.
