Who is Manchester City new boy Oleksandr Zinchenko?

With the summer transfer window slowly simmering into life, Manchester City have made their latest signing under new boss Pep Guardiola, with the acquisition of Oleksandr Zinchencko from FC Ufa. But who exactly is he?

Zinchenko is a 19-year-old Ukrainian, and was a part of the FC Ufa finished 12th in last season’s Russian Premier League.

Regarded as one of his country’s brightest up and coming talents, Zinchenko featured in all three of his country’s European Championship games this summer.

The teenager was also reportedly courted by Borussia Dortmund and Roma, but Zinchenko’s move to City is also part of a new ‘long-term cooperation’ deal between the Citizens and their Russian counterparts.

A player full of tricks, with an excellent left foot and superb vision, Zinchenko came through the youth system at Shakhtar Donetsk before joining Ufa in 2015.

It’s not yet known how much he will feature in the City first team this season, or if he will be loaned out elsewhere in Europe but his arrival is the latest sign of Guardiola stamping his mark on the blue half of Manchester.

Zinchenko became Ukraine’s youngest ever international goalscorer when he netted versus Romania earlier this year, and is tipped as the country’s next big thing.

Guardiola has already welcomed Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito to the Etihad, with the Citizens favourites with the bookies at 12/5 to win the Premier League.
