West Ham and Palace offered former Man United star

It’s clear that both West Ham and Crystal Palace are on the hunt for a striker this summer. So, keen to exploit that demand a quick-thinking agent has offered one of his clients.

According to the Sun on Sunday, Robin van Persie’s representatives have been contacting various sides to see if they can get the striker a new club, with both London outfits among the targets.

The former Manchester United man is currently a Fenerbahce player, but is apparently keen to move back to England’s capital at the earliest opportunity.

Van Persie has only been in Turkey for one season, having signed for the Super Lig giants last summer for around £4m. He scored 16 goals in 31 league games for this last season, as they finished runners-up to Besiktas.

Both the Hammers and Eagles have found themselves trailing the same forwards so far this off-season, with the pair missing out on Belgium star Michy Batshuyai already during the transfer window.

It has been reported that Palace have moved on to another Beglian striker, with Christian Benteke thought to be their next target, but a deal for the want-away Van Persie could be cheaper and easier to negotiate.

The former Arsenal striker has 166 Premier League goals to his name, from 336 appearances, and is reportedly extremely keen to return to the division.

London is his preferred destination, having clearly grown fond of the city from his time with the Gunners between 2005 and 2012.

Fenerbahce’s president, Azil Yildirim, is quoted in the Sun saying that he is “waiting for buyers, if he (Van Persie) wants to be sold.” Whether those buyers turn out to be West Ham or Palace, however, remains to be seen.
