Watch: Scottish Football Gold – Alan Thompson steals it for Celtic

Published:

Our first Old Firm Derby clip in this series comes from 2004, and it’s one that will cheer Celtic fans up after last night’s defeat to Lincoln Red Imps in the Champions League.

After three games of the 2004-05 season, Celtic sat top of the Scottish Premiership with three wins from three games and had the chance to create a five-point gap between themselves and Rangers at a sold-out Celtic Park.

A feisty 84 minutes went by without a goal, and it looked as if both teams were settling for a draw, which would have kept the Bhoys at the top of the table.

That was until Alan Thompson picked up a loose ball just outside the Rangers box.

The rest, as they say, is history.
