Odds tumble on a Fabregas-Mourinho reunion at Man United

Published:

Another day and there’s been another big name linked with Jose Mourinho and Manchester United, with the odds slashed on an Old Trafford move for Cesc Fabregas.

Having already signed Eric Bailly from Villarreal, Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund and a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, United continue to be linked to some of the finest names in world football.

But while a reported £100m deal for former Red Devil Paul Pogba is still making headlines, it’s Fabregas who’s at the centre of the latest Premier League reunion rumour.

As a result, our traders have cut the odds on a Fabregas switch to Old Trafford from 20/1 to 5/1.

With Mourinho looking for one more marquee signing in midfield, Fabregas could be seen as an ideal alternative should United be priced out of a deal for Pogba.

In his first season under the now-United boss, Fabregas boasted the most touches of the ball in the 2014-15 campaign (3331), the most assists (18), the second most chances created (91) while throwing in three goals for good measure.

And since this is the summer of reunions, our traders have also priced up several other Chelsea players to leave Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford, with Nemanja Matic and Eden Hazard both at 25/1 while Gary Cahill is 33s.

However, perhaps the biggest shock of the day after Fabregas is John Terry – who is now as short as 10/1 to swap his blue shirt for the red of Manchester.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It’s clear that Jose is on the hunt for at least one more big name this summer and the odds suggest Fabregas could be heading north pretty soon.”
