Money roars in for a Welsh win as England fan sits on payout

Chris Coleman’s Wales are being backed to the hilt by Ladbrokes punters to make history tonight and reach the final of Euro 2016.

Wales are outsiders at 16/5, but 60 per cent of all stakes have backed Gareth Bale and co to defeat Portugal in 90 minutes in Lyon.

One bold England fan is going Welsh for the day, after placing £1k on Wales to win the Euros at 80/1, saying ‘Bale is the best player in the world’.

Punters are also piling in on the 4/1 for both Bale and his Bernabeu buddy Cristiano Ronaldo to net this evening, while 2/1 says Ronnie winks at any Welsh player.

Having already scored twice from a free-kick in France, the bookies will be left reeling if Bale nets again from a set-piece at 14/1, with money flowing in on the Welsh wizard conjuring more magic.

Meanwhile it’s 23/20 that any of Hal Robson-Kanu, Sam Vokes or Ashley Williams repeat their Belgium heroics with another goal.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Everyone is going Welsh for the night, but while a victory for Coleman’s roaring Dragons would delight a nation, it would bring despair to the bookies.”

Ladbrokes will pay out almost £5m to fans should Wales make history, almost double the sum handed over to Leicester City backers.

Portugal are 6/5 for victory this evening, with a draw at 21/10.
