Man United can overcome poor travellers Galatasaray in Sweden

Man United look set to put their disappointing defeat against Borussia Dortmund behind them, as they take on a Galatasaray side with a dismal away record in Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium tonight.

Last season saw Aslanlar win just four league games on the road, while they fared even worse in European competition with just a solitary point earned over the course of four games – and that came only by virtue of a freak own-goal in the 2-2 draw at Astana.

Conversely, United put in some of their best displays on the road last season, including victories at Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as a 4-0 mauling of Club Brugge in Belgium in their Champions League opener.

And while the sapping heat of Shanghai Stadium saw the Red Devils struggle against a Dortmund side already deep into a run of pre-season fixtures, United will have little such trouble against the Turkish side.

Despite their illustrious history, Gala finished only sixth in Super Lig last season and bowed out of the Champions League and then Europa League in their first round – and have recently lost one of their key men, Alex Telles, to Porto.

That means United are the men to back for victory at 1/2, while Galatasaray are 10/3 and it’s 19/4 for a share of the spoils.

However, United have already won 2-0 on the road in pre-season, and while Gala are a step up from that day’s opponents, Wigan Athletic, the best value could be on the 15/2 for the Red Devils to win by the same margin again.
