This week Uefa revealed the contenders for this year’s Best Player in Europe award, and with ten of the world’s greatest players in the final nomination, it’s Barcelona’s Luis Suarez who should win.

That’s according to the voters on our Twitter poll today, which simply asked you to vote between the three likely favourites – Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale – in addition to your own suggestions.

Uruguay’s Suarez enjoyed a stunning season with Barca, netting 53 goals in just 49 games.

If that wasn’t enough, the former Liverpool man netted seven hat-tricks, and even found the time to supply 21 assists.

Suarez dominated our poll today with 47 per cent of the vote, but the bookies don’t see the award going the same way as our Twitter followers, with the Barca ace joint-third favourite at 5/1 to win next month’s accolade.

That’s because Ronaldo is odds-on favourite at 2/7, despite coming second in today’s vote with 30 per cent.

Having led Portugal to glory at the European Championships, Ronaldo seems destined to add another personal award to his trophy cabinet.

And for all his heroics in France, that left Gareth Bale in an admirable third place with 16 per cent.

The Welsh wing wizard is 14/1 for Uefa’s prize.

Euro 2016’s top scorer Antoine Griezmann was a frequently named in the ‘Other’ category, and the Atletico Madrid ace is second favourite at 4/1 to win next month.

The little magician Lionel Messi is a 5/1 shot, but sadly for those who suggested Dimitri Payet, Aaron Ramsey and Will Grigg, none of the trio made the final nominations.
