Lewis and Van Gerwen are focus of tonight’s Headline Double

Last night saw the second round of this year’s World Matchplay draw to a close, and now we know the final eight players set to battle it out for the crown.

Tonight sees Adrian Lewis, Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall and Michael van Gerwen fight it out for a place in the semis – a point that only Chizzy has failed to reach in Blackpool out of the four.

And he has a lot to do if he’s to progress in this year’s event as he faces world number one Van Gerwen.

Part of our 11/10 Headline Double, Mighty Mike breezed through the first two rounds, whitewashing Jamie Caven and brushing aside Kyle Anderson 11-3, and he’s beaten Chizzy in eight of their nine meetings since the turn of the year including an 11-6 victory in the final of the Masters.

It’s hard to see a way past MVG in this one, and while he’s 1/8 to win the match, perhaps the better value comes in backing this one to be finished in under 25.5 legs at 10/11, meaning the maximum amount of legs that Van Gerwen can give away is nine in the race to 16.

Adrian Lewis is the second selection in our Headline Double and he’s up against Peter Wright having beaten Snakebite earlier this month in Japan.

The second round brought out Jackpot’s fiery side as he came up against rival Gerwyn Price, and after beating Price 11-5, Lewis referred to the Iceman as a “nobody” who “bottled it” on the night.

He’ll face much more of a challenge tonight though against world number five Wright.

Snakebite has been quietly going about his business in this year’s Matchplay and a win for the Scotsman tonight could set up a repeat of last year’s semi against MVG.

Lewis will be keen to make sure that Snakebite can’t get his revenge on Mighty Mike this year and this one should go right to the wire.

While he’s 4/5 to win on the night, high scoring Lewis is 11/10 to beat Wright in the 180’s market which is worth considering.
