Is new bookies favourite Bob Bradley set to take over at Hull?

We’re almost two weeks away from the start of the new Premier League season, and while 19 clubs continue to scour the transfer market for new signings, one still has a manager to find.

Steve Bruce announced late last week that he would be leaving Hull City, stating that “it felt like the right step for the club to move forward in a different direction and with someone else in charge.”

And while Sunderland acted quickly in appointing Moyes as Sam Allardyce’s successor, it seems the Humberside club are taking their time over a decision to appoint a new boss, much to the worry of many Tigers fans – who will be playing host to last year’s champions Leicester City on the opening day.

Bob Bradley currently leads the market at 6/4 to take over the managerial hotseat at the KCOM Stadium, and though he’s considered somewhat of a surprise favourite, the Le Havre manager has a pretty impressive record.

A CONCACAF win in 2007 and a Confederations Cup runners-up medal in 2009 are just two of the American manager’s greatest achievements, while most recently he led Le Havre to a fourth-place finish in Ligue 2.

It’s not the first time he’s been linked with an English club, having been fancied for the Aston Villa post back in 2010, and Bradley himself has expressed his frustration in the past at not being given an opportunity to manage a big European side.

Though Hull aren’t quite up there with Europe’s elite clubs, they would certainly provide Bradley the platform to prove his ability.

However, he faces stiff competition for the role from former Wigan and Everton boss Roberto Martinez, who is the 7/4 second-favourite for the job.

Hull’s main priority this season should be avoiding relegation, something Martinez knows all too well about, having kept Wigan in the top-flight for three consecutive seasons, while also taking them to an FA Cup final where they beat Manchester City in the 2012-13 campaign.

Another name which has been thrown into the mix is Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett who is 10/1 to get the job.

Rowett has established himself as a top manager in the lower leagues of English football, taking Burton Albion to two play-offs before swapping the Brewers for the Blues, and many feel he’s ready to manage in the top-flight.
