How we’re getting behind GambleAware Week 2016

Published:

This year’s GambleAware Week will run from Monday 18 July until Saturday 23 July, an industry-wide initiative led by the Association of British Bookmakers’ members (including Ladbrokes, William Hill, Coral and Paddy Power) in partnership with the Responsible Gambling Trust.

The annual event is designed to recognise the importance the bookmaking industry places on encouraging our customers to bet safely and responsibly.

And to mark the occasion we’re joining forces with our industry colleagues to promote responsible gambling and raise awareness of the measures we have in place to help keep gambling fun.

All window advertising in our shops during this week will be replaced with eye-catching and bold responsible gambling posters.

We’ll also be taking the opportunity to make some changes to our existing measures in shops.

We’re launching a new responsible gambling message on the top screen of every BetStation (making us the first bookmaker to do this) and on machines, our responsible gambling messages will be updated with a new and fresh look and our alerts made more frequent, to remind customers to stay in control.

The new thresholds for these reminders will be for every 20 minutes spent playing, or £150 added to the machine.

The ABB is also working alongside gambling charity GamCare’s counselling partners during the week to deliver local drop-in sessions to raise awareness of the free local counselling that can be accessed via GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline (freephone 0808 8020 133, 08:00 – 0:00, seven days a week).

Meanwhile, we’ll also be using Social Media to promote the responsible gambling message.

Here’s a look at one of the important messages you can expect to see from @Ladbrokes:
